Question and Answer

Q: What is formaldehyde?

A: cientifically speaking, formaldehyde is a chemical compound of hydrogen, oxygen and carbon. Health-wise, it’s a dangerous chemical that can sometimes be listed on a product label as other names such as: formalin, formic aldehyde, methanediol, methanal, methyl aldehyde, methylene glycol or methylene oxide. Formaldehyde is a colorless, strong-smelling chemical that can cause skin and eye irritation and can be absorbed through the skin. Long-term exposure to formaldehyde can have severely damaging effects on your health. Even limited exposure can lead to watery eyes, burning sensations, coughing, wheezing and skin irritation—not to mention the harm it does to the environment, too. In the case of many other keratin treatments, formaldehyde releases toxic chemicals into the air when heat is applied, making it not only bad for you, but those around you, the air and the planet, too.

Q: What is Keratin?

A: The words "keratin smoothing treatment" are often tossed about when referring to traditional smoothing treatments. However, the word "keratin" is somewhat of a misnomer, as keratin is not the actual ingredient that smooths the hair. Keratin is certainly one of the ingredients we use, but it's only one of the three parts we need to smooth your hair completely. Keratin is the strong protein in skin, hair, and nails that heals and protects. Think of it as sealing the treatment in to complete the process.

Q: How does it work?

A: When you book a Classic Keratin Smoothing Treatment, you’ll want to allow approximately three to four hours for the service and processing time. The stylist will treat, rinse and then blow-dry and flatiron your hair to lock in the look. Then you’re all set—our nontoxic blend of ingredients allows you to style your hair, rewash it or even exercise right away.

Q: How long does it last?

A: The Classic Treatment lasts up to five months on all hair types. During this period, you’ll have smooth, frizz-free hair. Our treatments reduce blow dry time by up to 30%, and since they keep your hair healthy and strong, you won’t need to rely on extra styling products to get the look you want. Also, our treatments allow you to change your style without affecting the treatment. If you want to wear your natural curls one day and flatiron it the next, you can do that without risking losing the look you love from the treatment. .

Q: What do I need for after-care?

A: How should you care for your hair after you receive a Classic Keratin Smoothing Treatment? Any way you like. Our treatments put no limitations on your haircare routine. To protect and extend your look, shampoo with Cezanne Perfect Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner (complimentary w/ full service cezanne treatment).
